1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains what information ChitNotes collects through its website and mobile app, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to business owners, admins and collectors who use the Service, and to the subscriber data those businesses enter into it.
2. Information we collect
- Account information: business name, owner name, mobile number, email address, and password (stored securely, never in plain text).
- Business data you enter: chit group details, subscriber records (including identity details such as Aadhaar/PAN numbers where you choose to enter them, and nominee information), ticket assignments, auction results, and collection/receipt records.
- Usage information: basic technical information such as device type and app version, used to keep the Service running and to diagnose problems.
- Payment-related information: see Section 4 below.
3. How we use it
- To provide, operate and maintain the Service, including the features you use in the app.
- To authenticate your account and keep it secure.
- To process subscription billing (Free Trial / Monthly plan) as described in Billing & Payments.
- To provide customer support when you contact us.
- To improve and troubleshoot the Service.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use subscriber records you enter into the Service for any purpose other than providing the Service to you.
4. Payment information
Subscription payments are processed by Cashfree, a third-party payment gateway. When you make a payment, your card, UPI or banking details are handled directly by Cashfree's secure systems — ChitNotes does not receive or store your full payment card or bank account details. We receive confirmation of payment status (success/failure) and a transaction reference to keep your subscription record accurate.
5. Sharing of information
We share information only where necessary to operate the Service:
- With Cashfree, to process subscription payments.
- With hosting and infrastructure providers who store data on our behalf, under appropriate confidentiality obligations.
- Where required by law, regulation, or a valid legal request.
We do not share your business or subscriber data with other businesses using the Service, or with unrelated third parties for marketing purposes.
6. Data retention
We retain account and business data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward as needed to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You may request deletion of your account data by contacting us — see Section 11.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) between the app and our servers, secure password storage, and per-business data isolation. No system can be guaranteed 100% secure, but we work to keep the Service safe.
8. Your choices & rights
You can review and update most of your account and business information directly within the app. To request a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion of your account, contact us via the Contact Us page.
9. Children's privacy
The Service is intended for business use by adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
